--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS 3DTV-CON 2009 ============= 3rd 3DTV Conference The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video Website: www.3dtv-con2009.org Dates: May 04-06, 2009 Location: Potsdam, Germany --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 3DTV-CON 2009 Program Committee invites proposals for the Special Sessions Program of 3DTV-CON 2009, the 3rd 3DTV Conference on Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video, to be held May 4-6, 2009, in Potsdam, Germany. TOPICS OF INTEREST * 3D Capture and Processing: 3D scene capture and reconstruction techniques for static and dynamic scenes, synchronization and calibration of multiple cameras, holographic camera techniques, multi-view and multi-sensor image and 3D data processing, mixing of virtual and real worlds, 3D tracking. * 3D Coding and Transmission: Systems, architectures and transmission for 3DTV, Free viewpoint TV, coding of multi-view video, 3D meshes, and holograms, error resilience and error concealment of 3D video and 3D geometry * 3D Visualization: Projection and display technology for 3D videos, stereoscopic and auto-stereoscopic display techniques, holographic display technology, reduced parallax systems, integral imaging techniques, 3D mesh, texture, point, and volume-based representation, object- based representation and segmentation, 3D motion animation, human factors. * 3D Applications: 3D television, cinema, games and entertainment, virtual studios, 3D teleimmersion and remote collaboration, 3D imaging in virtual heritage and virtual archeology, augmented reality and virtual environments, underlying technologies for 3DTV, medical and biomedical applications, 3D content-based retrieval and recognition, 3D watermarking, other applications. Each special session will have some specific objective, for example: * To present original and valuable research results in the larger context in which they have been achieved, e.g., an EU R&D project. * To present a set of technologies that definitively solves an existing problem, or that is constrained to a specific application domain * To present explorations regarding future emerging technologies, showing different approaches to solve some new research Other objectives can also be proposed by the Sessions chair. SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL Each Special Session is expected to have from 4 to 8 papers and at least one author of each paper must register for the conference and present the paper during the session. All papers at 3DTV-CON 2009, including papers solicited for special sessions, undergo the same rigorous reviewing process by anonymous and independent reviewers. If after the reviewing process less than 4 papers solicited for a special session are selected, the Special Session will be canceled, and the solicited papers that passed reviewing will be presented within the main technical track of the conference. Special Session papers will be published together with regular papers in the conference's proceedings. Proposals for Special Sessions must include: * Title of the Special Sessions * Rationale of the need and objective of the session * Session outline * Specific topics of interest * Contact information for the Special Session chair(s) * Short biography of the Special Session chair(s) * List of potential papers, including title, abstract and author names, affiliations and contact information Proposals for Special Sessions should be submitted to Marius Preda (marius.preda[at]int-evry.fr) *and* Tanimoto Masayuki (tanimoto[at]nuee.nagoya-u.ac.jp) before February 1st, 2009. Prospective organizers are strongly encouraged to contact Marius Preda or Tanimoto Masayuki in advance. Notification of acceptance of proposals is scheduled for February 10th, 2009, while paper submission and review schedule is the same as for regular papers.
